Brighid with Barradaugh  2025

Oil on canvas, 20”x20”

An enchanted depiction of a pivotal moment in Mikayla’s life as a young artist.  The image first appeared four years prior as a dream, in which her late grandfather– a calm and reassuring presence, visited her.  She recounts how they sat atop a hill and discussed all that is versus what could be.  As her appreciation for her heritage and Irish folklore developed, she came to understand the dream as a harbinger to trust in the goddess of healing and poetry, smithcraft and fire.
